South African student congress [SASCO] fully supports the Cleaning services: Protected strike action that is schedule for Monday, 8th August 2011. In understanding the situation that they have gone through out for all those years and it is sad that CPUT management keeps quite on issues that are affecting of parents. On the 7 May 2009 Metro workers decided to take it on the streets but even today it’s not yet resolved.
The saddest part of it is that our mothers and fathers[metro workers] that work here in this institution to ensure that this university is clean and environmentally friendly, they wake up at 4am so that they make on time (8am) every day for the rest of their life, some started to work here when they were 21 years and when they retire at their 60’s, helpless and cannot do anything for themselves they are left with no pension fund except that one of government grant….We as SASCO, we are saying no to slavery that is labour brokering .
